Consider making a contribution. This goes to covering any costs and as a thank you to the host for allowing us to use their space.
What You Can Bring and What They Are Worth
Books meeting Good to Excellent conditions = 1 credit
Good to Excellent Condition: can have minimal underlining, highlighting and light water damage, must have front cover.
Books meeting Fair Condition = ½ credit
Fair Condition: underlining, highlighting, water damage, excessive wear, must have front cover.
DVDs & CDs = 1 credit per disc (sets worth more credits)
All media must be in playable condition, no scratches that affect playing and in the original case.

Final decision for how many credits you get is up to FamilyBuddy; you make the final decision for what items you agree to swap.

FAQ
Q: What are the condition guidelines?
• No missing text pages
• Must have front cover
• For full credit: No torn, loose or chewed pages, Must have front and back cover, Minimal writing or highlighting on text pages, Binding must be intact and not separated, No more than light water damage
• Audio (and visual) materials must be playable, original copies with original case material
• Hard cover books do not have to have dust jacket
• Ex-library books are acceptable
Q: How many items can I get when swapping?
The "cost" of items is the same as what you get for what you brought. So, if you bring a book worth 1 credit that book will cost someone 1 credit.
Q: Why can’t I swap a book without a front cover?
Books without a front cover may be books that were refunded to a bookstore without ever being sold, so in a sense these are “bootleg” copies. We believe that once a book has been purchased the owner is free to sell or swap the book they bought, but since these books weren’t purchased they should not be a part of our event.
Q: If I don’t use all my credits can I take back some of my own books?
If your books are still on the tables, then absolutely. If others are shopping at the same time there’s no guarantee that any of the books you bring will still be available at the time you’re ready to leave. So be aware.
Q: What if I don’t find as many books as I brought?
You can save the credits for a future swap. You are responsible to keep track of your swap voucher. Family Buddy will not keep a record and cannot replace lost or stolen vouchers.
Or just swap the number of books you take.
Q: What if the DVD or CD turns out to be unplayable?
Everyone’s on the honor system here. Because there is no record of who brings each item we have no way of making this right. This is a risk you’ll need to be willing to take. Take the precaution of looking at the DVD or CD to see if there are any visible problems and don’t take it if you think there might be damage.
Q: Can I tell my friends and neighbors?
Absolutely! The more items we have the better selection for everyone. Be sure to give them a copy of the instructions and FAQs.
Q: Will you be doing this again?
As of now, this is an on-going thing. All anyone needs is to make an appointment and bring books to swap. So spread the word!
